Fall 2019 Semester Announcements

Please see below for announcements about Fall 2019 Semester teaching technology resources from CALS-OIT and Cornell’s Center for Teaching Innovation.

As the Fall 2019 semester approaches, I’d like to offer you a chance to become more familiar with the technology in your CALS classroom. Learn about a new classroom, refresh your memory on a familiar one, brush up on your AV skills or learn some new ways that technology can work for you during your classes. Feel free to offer times convenient for you to meet with one of us in your classroom. We’ll arrange a time for you individually or in a group, depending on interest and demand. Of course, you may also explore the room on your own and let us know if you have any questions.

Either way, you may contact us by phone (255-6466) or by responding to this email. Please include the building name and room number of your class(es).

Thank you,

Travis Johns and your Classroom Technology Support Team

For those who will be using the iClicker Classroom Polling service in your classrooms this fall, please sign up for a session to set up the iClicker program for your course.  See our page for dates and times for the 2019 Fall workshops at:
https://it.cornell.edu/atregister

Please sign up for a workshop for Blackboard or for Canvas courses.

If these dates are not convenient for you, please schedule a time to meet at your office using my calendar: https://calendly.com/cornell-polling.

All courses for first-year students that currently use Blackboard, regardless of college, must move to Canvas for the 2019 Fall semester. Please consult communications from your college for school-specific migration plans. Blackboard will become unavailable at the start of the spring semester, 2020.

You can login to Canvas at https://login.canvas.cornell.edu/. Canvas course sites for all 2019 Fall courses have been created for you. You will not need to request them from Faculty Center, which is still required for 2019 Fall Blackboard courses.

For help using Canvas, please see our Canvas@Cornell Resource Library at:
https://learn.canvas.cornell.edu/

If you have any questions or concerns about the Classroom Polling service, Blackboard, or Canvas, please get in touch.
